Day 1: Arrival in Moshi

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport where you’ll be met by our team and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. Meet your guide for a briefing, gear check, and final preparation for the trek.
After breakfast, drive to Rongai Gate near the Kenyan border. Begin your hike through a pine forest and gentle terrain to Simba Camp, where you’ll spend your first night on the mountain.
Continue your gradual ascent with stunning views of Kibo and the Eastern Ice Fields. Today’s trail takes you through moorland vegetation to Second Cave Camp.
Depart Second Cave and head towards the more rugged Kikelewa Camp, passing through open moorland with giant groundsels and beautiful wilderness.
A short but steep climb takes you to the Mawenzi Tarn, nestled beneath the towering spires of Mawenzi. Spend the afternoon acclimatizing and exploring the surrounding area.
Cross the lunar desert of the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo to reach Kibo Hut, your base camp. Prepare for the summit attempt with an early dinner and rest.
Begin your summit attempt around midnight. Climb slowly to Gilman’s Point and continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebrations and photos, begin your descent to Horombo Hut for overnight rest.
Descend through the heather and rainforest zones to Marangu Gate. After receiving your summit certificate, transfer back to Moshi for a well-deserved rest at your hotel.
